Sorry I know this isn't related to the up and coming cheerleader contest, but I just couldn't wait to say this because this needed to be said.

So recently we got a comment on our groups page.

Now we rarely get any messages like this, well for as long as I been Modding the group I haven't seen any of these messages, but today this caught me by surprise. The only time we really got any complaints from our group is by people who had their artwork submitted to our group, who felt their characters didn't belong to a black women group based on their race and skin color...So we had to tell these people kindly that we were sorry that their work was submitted to our group, but they had all of the power in the world to decline our offer. Instead a few people made a big stink out of it just to prove a point that their characters would or never would be black. *rolls eyes*

Anyways, upon looking at the users gallery above they are an anti black-anti POC DA page. Then I  found a group that was solely for white women.  I will not post the groups name or information, but these are their simple guidelines.

:bulletgreen:Only White females in the images!
:bulletgreen:No tanned skin or tattoos
:bulletgreen:Keep adult images classy
:bulletgreen:No fat or obese people
:bulletgreen:The more pale the better :]
:bulletgreen:Submit your best works and have fun sharing!

Also I've seen the comments they were getting about their group, pretty much people were pissed off because they felt it was racist, fatphobic, etc. A lot of people disagreed and said that there are tons of groups on DA that only allow POC artwork. The owner of the group even advised a member to come to our group if they thought black women were beautiful too. I chuckled, because out of all of these groups these people think we have, they only could find one, they only could point us out, out of the few. Now don't get me wrong I think we have a good handful of groups dedicated to black women and black people, however we are not being exclusive to be prejudice, well that's not what I think our group is doing, we're not doing any of this to say "Black people are better than white people!" no we aren't even implying such. Our group is to showcase the black art on DA, a lot of people would have a hard time finding black artists, or black artwork on DA through regular search. People would like to see black characters. It's about representation for us. We aren't represented fully and fairly. So there are groups made for that to uplift and empower black people. Let me also mention that it's not only black people looking for black artwork either btw.

A lot of these groups aren't trying to enforce any hate or negative stereotypes. In our guidelines you don't see us saying anything about a certain type of black, a certain color of black, a certain origin of black. No. We know that black women come in all shapes, sizes, skin tones, shit even different places around the world. So in short we are not a discriminatory group and that's what I'm trying to say. All of these pale only white only groups are pretty much problematic in itself because they don't want just white women, they want a certain type of white woman, they want to exclude white women who are tan, who are fat, who have a certain hair color, only European or american, etc. those groups are far from our groups.

If....Now If anyone feels differently towards our group, you have every right to remove yourself from it, you can even block it if you feel any type of way. We're not stopping you, I'm damn sure not gonna stop you from making a decision that can better us. ALSO if we do start to get a bunch of idiotic, Neo nazi, racist comments on our page, they will be gracefully removed and users would be blocked from our page. So they won't hurt themselves trying to carry on their hateful thoughts.

Thank you for listening to my lil message, tell us how you think we're doing btw!

Well it's just like with anything else you can make a D.A group with anything you want. I think having specific art groups is a good thing, I like to go and find exactly what I'm looking for when I'm looking for art. I treat it like shopping, I know what I'm looking for so if things are sorted well it makes it easier for me =j.

Don't feed that troll. yes there are countless groups, websites etc. where Caucasian models primarily dominate. Frankly, it's most places, especially the industry. I recall reading an article some time ago that spoke of a black model who was trying to draw attention to the fact that there are few black women in the industry. The ones who generally make it are mixed/mulatto, slender, and do not exhibit many features that our women have. Most curvy women are pushed into niche magazines, videos, and corners where only other black people look for them.

There is nothing wrong with having a group which compiles images of beautiful black women as well as art into a place where they can be found easily. I watch other groups and unless it is a group like this one, the chance that I see a black model is minuscule and that's the reality of the situation, so I follow these groups to see beautiful black women. People should just accept the fact that Caucasian and mixed models are much more readily accepted and seen.

Other than that, just think of his mind frame and what he could be try to 'accomplish', let alone his username...enough said.

One more thing...you would never have to create a group to feature Caucasian models, only to exclude all others...think about it!

I remember him actually, he commented on MilkyPure's (a shallow group that only accepted pics of skinny, extremely pale white girls) page and I quote "White girls are the best. Only a White girl could ever make me happy." so I'm not even surprised to see him comment this stuff anymore. Funny how he says this page is racist yet he didnt say anything about the other one~

I think the phrase "Hater's gonna hate" sums it up.

Personally?  as long as the group doesn't drag OTHER groups down? it's all good.  We celebrate beauty in all forms here on DA.

Except for people who don't 'celebrate' beauty at all, and instead find excuses to drag other people's work down.  Those, we could probably survive without....

Thanks guys for all of your comments, and we do value your opinions. I hope that everyone can see that this group is opened to all artists and viewers, who just appreciate the aesthetic and positive goals of our group. We do not really condone hate of any form. All forms of artwork of black women are welcomed as long as they're not abusive, and harmful to the members of our group.

Even without considering race, the guy's just a hater.   I don't see the point in going to any group and saying they're awful because they've made a group around their interest.  Why do you even care?  Just do your own thing.

And as a woman, I find his claim even more invalid for not mentioning gender.

Personally, I'm all for spotlighting very pale people.   Aesthetically, I like the extremes of every ethnicity.  But I don't like all the racism rampant in groups focused on light skin.  Luckily, white women are everywhere in every visual medium on the planet, so I don't actually need  to endure the racism in a group like that to see dozens of pale people in my feeds every day.

I think you're doing an excellent job presenting a forum for an expression of art not normally available. I know, at least with sci-fi, its rare to see black women. A franchise typically has one and only one at any given time as a regular character and its wonderful to see a place where such characters can be presented. I've also noticed that not all of the submissions are by black artist and that's heartening in itself. I think its a wonderful idea and group. I've only stopped watching it because I have a quirk about language, a preference against profanity. That's a personal choice and has nothing against the good, the great artist that populate this group. I'm glad its around. There needs to be a place for this.

Sometimes, I wish people with that mentality could live the life of a minority race for a month or so and see what it's like to be on the other side of societal norms or power dynamics.  Then I think they would understand that groups like this don't exist out of racial bias but because we don't have the same abundance of art and exposure they do.  Little things that may seem trivial to others really add up and can have an terrible effect on our self image.  If you walk into a comic book store and randomly pull 20 titles from the shelf or turn on a TV and watch a random cartoon, how many of these comics or shows feature a black character as the star?  If you want to cosplay, there aren't near as many options if you want to actually cosplay as someone you would look like.  Heck, look at the models that routinely make it to dA front page... overwhelmingly fewer black women compared to other races.  As a black person what am I to think of this?  As an adult I understand the dynamics, but what about the younger people?  We need places like this to show them that we do have do have heroes, stories, and beautiful people.

Oh yea, they aren't racist because comments like this aren't racist at all - comments.deviantart.com/4/2338…

I wonder if he would feel that way dating some white trash, podunk hill billy girl. while a well educated, successful black woman is off somewhere making the bennies.

But as long as his girl is skinny and white that's all that matters right?

See that's where I disagree with you. Having a preference doesn't make you a bad person or someone to pity. If he isn't attracted to other women that's fine, his choice. I know for myself there is certain women I'd never give the time of day to and others I'd try for sure hard to get with. It's really all about preference. The way he goes about it tho just kinda makes me shake my head

i didn't mean having a preference is wrong at all. he seems to take it a bit to the extreme with stuff like " comments.deviantart.com/4/2338…
I feel as though if you are that narrow, you're not just looking for love, you're looking for a trophy, a look and hoping that that person has those qualities. To an extent, you can't help who you fall in love with, yet it only really works against you to only look for women like the aforementioned comment and expect them all to be great

Overall, I think every race, background or what have you has beautiful women. In that same breath, beauty is indeed skin deep and it should be all about falling in love and loving the person on the inside. Of course we go for what we are attracted to, but it's sad that some would prefer a beautiful girl with no personality over someone who's not as beautiful, but has great qualities and would make a great partner, spouse, friend, etc.

Yeah that person's completely ignorant. Out of my four years here I've seen maybe only 10-15 black characters in my inbox until I found a few POC groups a couple of months ago :/ And there's only 5 decent groups that I've ran into so far. Without these groups it's hard to find other artists who don't always draw people with pale/light skin.

This guy is just a troll, they only do that internet gangster stuff online because they are cowards.
None of these groups say anything bad about other races but it's just time in this supremely white supremest world that chocolate, and poc and women of all colours love be appreciated because it's not.
The world isn't just peace coloured, it's different tones and hues.

That EuroAustralian guy sounds like a pathetic troll. Because it's not like we don't already have a bunch of groups saturated with European female imagery (here's a hint: these are MOST of the groups ostensibly dedicated to beautiful women of all colors).
